ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT   

   The Department of  Curriculum Development & Special Education is located in the heart of the city of Hyderabad, one of the main urban center of Pakistan, in the main building of the Elsa Kazi Campus (old campus) of the University of Sindh, where at present, the Sindh University Press and Dr. N.A.Baloch Model School of the University of Sindh and Faculty of Education are also functioning. This is a beautiful building which is a unique monument of architecture worth seeing particularly during the night when it is illuminated with lights.

            The Department was created as an independent teaching department of the University of Sindh following the re-organization of the then  Institute  of  Education  and  Research  into  Faculty  on 01-07-1987. This was the first teaching department of Curriculum development created in any University of  Pakistan to deal with this most important area of Education., The department is mainly concerned with the social, ideological and historical basis on which the national system of education is based. It prepares teachers both at Secondary land Elementary school level and equips them with the ideology of Pakistan on one hand and the modern principals and proceeds of teaching with a strong commitment to their profession on the other. The department offers courses both at the graduate and the post graduate level.
